As the weather starts to warm up, it’s a great time for residents in Sallee communities to prepare their homes for the spring and summer months ahead. A few simple steps now can help keep your home running efficiently, prevent maintenance issues, and ensure you stay comfortable as temperatures rise. From refreshing your HVAC system to getting outdoor spaces ready, these small tasks can make a big difference.
Change your air filter regularly: After a long winter, your HVAC system has been working hard. A clean filter helps improve air quality and keeps your system running efficiently. Replace your filter every few months (or monthly if needed) and be sure to change it at least twice a year.
Reconnect and check your garden hose: Before using your outdoor spigot, reconnect your hose and slowly turn on the water to check for leaks or damage. Inspect the hose for cracks and ensure connections are tight to avoid water waste.
Test your air conditioning system early: Don’t wait until the first hot day — turn on your AC early in the season to make sure it’s cooling properly. If you notice any issues, contact the Maintenance team before peak summer temperatures arrive.
Check windows and screens: Spring is the perfect time to open your windows for fresh air. Make sure screens are intact and free of tears, and clean off any dust or debris that may have built up over the winter.
Inspect exterior areas and drainage: Walk around your home and check that drainage areas are clear of debris. Make sure downspouts are directing water away from your home and that nothing is blocking proper runoff after spring rains.
Adjust your thermostat for the season: As temperatures rise, update your thermostat settings to keep your home comfortable while maximizing energy efficiency. Consider slightly higher settings when you’re away to help reduce energy usage.
