Sallee, a leading real estate developer in the Kansas City area, has closed the sale of a major suburban build-to-rent portfolio for $113 million. This milestone marks the largest build-to-rent (BTR) transaction in Kansas City to date and one of the most significant multifamily deals in the region.
The portfolio encompasses more than 500 rental homes across multiple suburban communities, reflecting years of strategic planning, development, and investment in the region.
“This is more than a transaction, it’s a validation of our team’s vision and execution, and of Kansas City’s future as a premier BTR market,” said Tyler Sallee, President & CEO of Sallee. “We built these communities to offer residents maintenance-free, professionally managed living and now we’re excited to see them thrive under new ownership.”
The deal was brokered by Walker & Dunlop, with strategy and execution led locally by their Kansas City investment sales team.
“This transaction reinforces Kansas City’s emergence on the national stage as a true growth market for institutional BTR investors,” said Jeff Stingley, Managing Director of Investment Sales at Walker & Dunlop.
This sale underscores the strong fundamentals of Kansas City’s rental housing market and highlights the growing interest from institutional investors in professionally managed, suburban build-to-rent communities.
